Bhutan Culture Heartland Tour - 5 Days

The first day of our Bhutan Culture Heartland Tour starts with a flight to Paro Airport. The flight to Paro offers mesmerizing views of mountains and it is also considered as the most spectacular mountain flight. After your arrival in Paro, our (NTT) airport representatives will meet you and transfer you to Thimphu (the capital city of Bhutan). However, we will do some sightseeing activities at Paro airport too for a little bit. After reaching Thimphu, we will again start our sightseeing tour visiting Memorial Chorten, a nunnery temple, mini zoo, traditional painting school, and traditional medicine institute, museum, the royal Tashi Tscho Dzong and traditional paper factory in Thimphu. We will stop our sightseeing tour in the evening time. Overnight stay at a hotel in Thimpu. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included.

After breakfast at our hotel in Thimpu, we will drive to Panaka which is about 75 Kilometers in distance and takes around 3 hours to reach there. We will be passing through Dochu La pass (3,100 meters) with awesome mountain views on the way. We will stop to visit the memorial Chorten, which is the Stupa built in the memory of Bhutan’s Third King. However, the King is also regarded as the father of modern Bhutan and the paintings and statues provide a deep insight into Buddhist philosophy which is inside of this monument. Moreover, we will also visit Handicrafts Emporium (presents beautiful hand-woven and crafted products), Arts and Crafts School (traditional thangka paintings), and National Library (collection of Buddhist texts and manuscripts) this day. Overnight stay at a hotel in Punakha. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included.

After breakfast in Punakha in the early morning, we will make our way to visit Punakha Dzong. Punakha Dzong was built by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1637, which lies at the junction of two rivers, i.e. Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu Rivers. The Dzong was built to serve as the religious and administrative center of the region and successively played a vital role in the preservation of Bhutan’s history. Although it was damaged seriously by fires and earthquakes, it is now fully restored more beautifully. After spending some hours in Punakha Dzong, we will drive towards Wangdiphodrang, which is a district of Bhutan and is most popular for its bamboo products and stone craving. We will have our lunch here and further drive to Paro from here. On the way to Paro, we will visit Simtokha Dzong (built-in 1627), which is the oldest fortress of the kingdom. Today is our hiking day and we will be hiking to Tiger’s Nest, situated at the elevation of 3,120 meters in Paro. It takes approximately 5 hours to back and forth the hiking trail. So, after breakfast at our hotel, we will get ready for the hike and move from the hotel. First of all, we will visit Taktsang Monastery, which is the most popular monastery of Bhutan and take an excursion for some while there. According to belief, Guru Rinpoche has arrived here with the face of Tigress and meditated for years in this monastery. Hence, its name is also given from that incident calling it “Tiger’s Nest”. After completion of visiting Tiger’s Nest taking around 5 hours, we will further visit Ta Dzong (national museum of the kingdom), which was built as Water Tower during its establishment. But since 1967, the tower is acting as the National Museum of the country holding collection of art, artifacts, thangka paintings. After that, we will further walk to visit Rinpung Dzong. After breakfast in our hotel in Paro, our (NTT) representatives will take you to the airport via drive. You
can return to your country from there with a scenic flight from Paro.
